It is my goal to aim for excellence in the
selection, breeding and care of my dogs and
my livestock. First and foremost is breeding
healthy dogs. I stand by the health of my
pups which is why I offer a 28-month health
guarantee. It states the pup you are purchasing
is healthy and free from genetic defects. This
guarantee includes but is not limited to hip
dysplasia.
If you are not willing to answer questions such as:
Have you ever owned a Pyr before?
What type of stock do you have?
What type of fencing do you have?
Do you have kids, other dogs, cats?
How do you feel about spaying and neutering your dog?
Please do us both a favor and choose another breeder.
My dogs are kept current on their heartworm preventative, regular worming, yearly vaccinations, and their rabies vaccination every three years. Each of my dogs has had their hips tested either with OFA or PennHIP and some have had elbows and patellas and cardiac tests done as well. Keeper and Gracie have had the tests completed for their CHIC designation.
My females weigh approx. 100 lbs, and my male weighs 120. This is what you can expect your pup to weigh at about 2 years of age.
Livestock guard dogs (LGD) and pet pups sell for $600, with limited registration. Limited registration means that your pup can be registered with the AKC but any offspring of said pup cannot be registered. I do this because not all pups are of breeding quality. It doesn't mean they won't make good guards or pets, it just means I make the decision which pups are of breeding quality based on what I observe early on. I feel this is my responsibility as a breeder. Breeding quality pups are priced higher, if that is what you are looking for, contact me and let me find out more about you and your breeding program and what qualities you’re looking for in a breeding quality pup.
Pups do not leave the farm before 8 weeks of age. Pups that don't make the cut for guarding dogs are socialized more and exposed to our house, back yard and our house dogs. The pups which are not placed before 12 weeks of age their price will increase due to training with either sheep or goats or both at my discretion.
All of my pups are born in the barn close to our sheep and goats. After a few weeks they are moved to a pen opposite where our animals come in to feed. This is where the bonding process starts and I get to observe how they interact with the stock and the adult dogs. As they get older they go out into the barnyard with mom and the other dogs to learn all about what it means to be a potential future LGD. It is at this point I can observe and decide if I think a pup could or should be placed as a pet.
As far as color, some of our pups are born with badger markings, some are not. Some have also been known to have a body spot. Most but not all of these markings fade with age.
When you call or email to inquire about one of my pups, you should be prepared for me to ask you a lot of questions. I need to feel confident about the placement and know that this is a good match. After the questions if you are serious about a pup, I may suggest you send a $100 deposit which will hold a pup. If for some reason I can't give you what you want or if you change your mind, I will consider refunding your deposit.
Over the years I have met many wonderful people and made many new friends.
I appreciate when owners send pictures and updates about their dogs either by email or phone. It is also important for new owners to know I am available for any kind of support needed during the life of your pup.
